Theme-of-the-Day is a daily post where we ask readers to leave their summer camp ideas, using the day’s theme, in the comments section. What ideas and suggestions do you haveĀ  for the Theme of the Day? What game, craft, apparel choice, theme meal, evening activity, special event, song, skit, or anything else would you do at camp if your theme was…

Fiesta

As always I will kick off the theme with five suggestions. Then it’s your turn to leave your awesome suggestions and ideas in the comments area below.

  1. Decorations are key for a fiesta theme. Use lots of bold colors with table cloths, streamers and hangings. See Shindigz (my favorite online party store) for more decoration ideas.
  2. You have to serve Mexican food. Tacos, burritos, quesadilla, chips and salsa, and beans and rice are all good choices. During the meal you can play some traditional Mariachi music.
  3. Have a dance where the campers learn to Salsa. You can also have the camp do the Macarena and/or the Mexican Hat dance.
  4. Use Spanish words. Change any signs that are around camp to their Spanish versions.
  5. Have a pinata for each age group filled with candies and/or little toys. You can also add some camp store tickets.
