Theme-of-the-Day is a daily post where we ask readers to leave their summer camp ideas, using the day’s theme, in the comments section. What ideas and suggestions do you haveĀ  for the Theme of the Day? What game, craft, apparel choice, theme meal, evening activity, special event, song, skit, or anything else would you do at camp if your theme was…

I Love the 80s

Below are five suggestions. Got a suggestion? Leave it in the comments area below.

  1. It goes without saying that you should have a good selection of 80s music. That shouldn’t be too hard since there are a ton of 80s compilations available. Use the music for a dance, a game of musical chairs or a camp staff Name That Tune competition.
  2. Speaking of game shows the 80s seemed to be the game show decade. Run a game show for the campers. Need ideas? Take a look at my Game Show Mania post.
  3. Hold an 80s competition evening. With 5 minutes who can get the most sides completed on the Rubik’s Cube? Get the Tater Toss Hot Potato game and let the fun begin. Play “Pin the glove on Michael” using a white sparkling glove and a poster of Michael Jackson.
  4. Talk like Valley girls.
  5. Hold a breakdancing competition, complete with cardboard mats.
