Paris, France
Decorations
There is nothing more iconic than the Eiffel Tower. Create it on butcher paper or find a large cutout of it. If you want to decorate in the colors of France use blue, white and red – the colors of the flag.

Music
The most famous French Operetta of the time was George Bizet’s Carmen. Play music from the soundtrack.
Language
Food
Besides a plate of bread, cheese and wine (I mean, grapefruit juice), think croissants, crepes and maybe even fondue (fun). Fish, duck and chicken dishes are popular French meats. Soups are also good.

Clothing
Fashion at the time was very similar to the English.
Crafts
You don’t have to be going to a masquerade ball to make a mask.
Or, if you have some Model Magic, which I love to use at camp, you can make an Eiffel Tower scene.

Celebrations and Events
Noel –Christmas in France
Children in France put their shoes in front of a fireplace and Pere (Papa) Noel fills them with gifts and candy.

Bastille Day –Independence Day
A military parade is held every year on the morning of Bastille Day. There are fireworks in the evening and everyone gathers on rooftops to watch.

I love your ideas and creativity!
Thanks, Sandi. I really appreciate the kind words. This post took a long time to put together, but it was one that I had wanted to write for a while.
What a great post I really did enjoy! May I ask where you obtained the back drops from? Lovely and LOVE the book!
Thanks, Joanne. I like Shindigz.com for back drops. Occasionally, I can find something on OrientalTrading.com as well.
You ideas are creative and easy to use. For our summer camp in India, i have this theme for a week. Kids are given passports and campers are travelling to Africa in the theme. In craft we are creating tribal costumes using paper and beads. Wearing these costumes kids will have a tribal dance performance. So much of fun with this theme.
Thanks, Sangeeta. I am glad you are finding the ideas useful. Good luck with your camp.
